We need your help. The Dallas Booster Club is spearheading a community based fund-raising drive that will install a new synthetic all-weather surface on Ron August Field at Dallas High School. Our goal is to have an artificial surface installed by August 2018. The project cost is approximately $850,000 and will be funded entirely with private money from cash donations and, donated labor and materials.
A Community facility! The current grass field is unsuitable for play once wet weather has set in due to poor drainage and soil conditions, and is currently only allowed to be used for high school football and track events. A new multipurpose, artificial surface would allow year-around access for P.E. classes, games and/or practices for football, soccer, cross country, softball, baseball, cheer, dance, little league, and community events such as Relay for Life, jog-a-thons, and graduation. This project will finally bring us up to standard with other schools in our league.
In 1965 the Dallas Community came together to build the covered stadium named after Mel Gallaspie, a major financial contributor to several school projects. Ron August Field was dedicated in 2012 in memory of our long time DHS coach, who coached the Dragons from 1964-1989. It’s time for us to come together again to raise the funds to install an artificial surface.
